Wak Fired

In a summer where the NBA hired an Asian American GM and an Asian American signed an NBA deal, MLB saw its first Asian American manager fired.

Wak deserved a better fate, but you can’t fire the players. It wasn’t all of his fault, but he had lost the team and the Mariners were udderless.

The front office abandoned its trust in Wak early in the season (after it was apparent that the team would not contend). We are sorry to see you go and hope another opportunity comes up in the future.

Mariners season goes “up in Smoak”

First LeBron. Now Lee.

Thankfully, the supsense of today’s sports transaction was surprising rather than scripted. Cliff Lee is traded within the division to the Texas Rangers for a young up and comer and 3 minor leaguers.

No matter what the Mariners do, the talent they trade for (Lee), sign (Richie Sexson) or draft (ARod, Griffey) cannot bring Seattle a World Series title. Is the 206 as bad as Cleveland.  Just a note, the last champions in this city have been the women’s team.  The Husky Softball team and the Seattle Storm (btw, the Storm are good this season).
